Matese Falcon Entering the Bay

Here is a video (of several we took that day) of Tom Perkins' Maltese Falcon. This particular footage shows the "mammoth" entering under the Golden Gate Bridge, bound for a jaunt past the City front. Take note of the immense amount of craft in the the water - more than we have ever seen in one day in the Bay... Fleet Week doesn't hold a candle to the amount of boats out there.

The seas were pretty chaotic and we had upwards of 25 knots of wind. The Maltese was likely doing 20 + knots, compared to our 8 knots max.

Summer Sailstice

Karl Wilber skippering to weather at 8+ knots with 30+ knot winds.

Oh yeah, and the engineers on board Lanikai that day surmised lightening... upon coming back through the gate, sure enough lightening and fires! This was the beginning of the current bombardment of fires hitting California this summer... $41.5 million bucks later!

This is a quick video of Karl chatting about the ever boring mercury industry, with Ryan at the helm.

The Wilbers Encounter Pirates in the Bay

This is about a 4 minute video of some local pirate ships that have been known to frequent the Bay. They are some charter/tour boats that reenact Pirate canon battles. As you'll hear (above the wind - sorry, it was windy that day), the ships are firing "cannons" at each other. You will also hear some sailor-like language. My apologies for the language and the wind, but the mic on the video camera seems to like both.

Finally, since it is a video on a sailboat in 18+ knot winds, the camera does shake depending on where I was standing.
